The picture of the beach is when we were in the Cook Isands on the Island of Rarotonga. Before we left we completed our mission papers and turned them in. We thought that when we would get home our call would be there and just maybe it would be to a warm, beautiful, sunny place with turqoise waters, kind of like this place. In fact as we flew from Papetee Tahiti to Raratonga there were two elders on the plane and they told us they needed a couple in Tahiti..maybe this is a coincidence we thought? We love those kinds of places. Well our call was not there when we got home, but it came about a week later. Just a little different than we expected!!!

Marcia and I received our Mission Call on March 17th to the Moscow Russia Mission to serve as office specialist. We leave for the MTC in Provo July 12th. We were so surprised! You might even say shocked. Our biggest question was: How can two old ........ ever learn how to speak Russian, and that it was so far away. When we put in our mission papers we did not specify any conditions. We were confidient that we could go anywhere the Lord would call us on an english speaking mission. For some reason an english speaking mission in a foreign country was not on our list of possible assignments. Now that some of the shock has worn off, we know that the Lord will bless us to do the work which He has called us to do.
